The test fitting

This is where proportion becomes visible.

A test fit gives us a direct view of how the garment sits on your body. We look first at the balance of the jacket and the line of the trousers. We then consider how much ease you need when standing or moving.

The temporary basting leaves room for changes before the garment is finished. Each refinement is recorded so the commission becomes a useful foundation for anything we make together later.

After the fitting

The garment should look at home on you.

A finished commission should keep its shape while feeling natural to wear. The final fitting checks that balance. What follows is the life the client gives it.

Common questions

Before we meet

How much time should I allow?

Most commissions are completed in 3–6 weeks. For weddings, group orders or complex garments, we recommend beginning 6–8 weeks ahead where possible.

Do I need to know which cloth or style I want?

No. Bring the occasion and a sense of how you would like to feel. We will narrow the cloth and styling options around that brief.

Can you work from a suit I already like?

Yes. An existing garment can be a useful reference for the fit and character you already enjoy wearing.

Are alterations included?

Final fitting refinements are part of the process. We will explain any timing implications before arranging them.
